The gastronomic universe of Alex Milla

Chef Alex Milla embarks on this solo project and turns to us to shape the space that will serve as a stage for the presentation of his dishes.

Tuléar, (a city in Madagascar that he visited on a solidarity trip) as a name and creating an aesthetic with a rogue touch were his premises.

We found a place that had been used as a seafood restaurant with an industrial-style decoration but lacking in personality.

 

We devised the concept of "gastronomic universe" with the intention of creating an enveloping atmosphere that complements the genuine dishes of Alex Milla.

After several revisions in the creative axis, an aesthetic simplification was chosen, preserving certain details that confer its own identity.

 

Taking advantage of the double height in the living room area and the exposed brick cladding on the walls, the painter Antonio del Moral was commissioned to create a mural in the form of graffiti.

The so-called Chipinejo is represented, a rabbit with the body of a baby squid whose tentacles run throughout the premises.

 

We introduce elements of iron and metal mesh, leaving the natural finish of the materials that accentuate the rogue and industrial character of the place.

With these materials we created the separator and a large shelf as a cage for displaying wines, oils,... in addition to delimiting the bar and room areas.

 

A large corner unit with a high backrest complements a selection of furniture that mixes the delicacy of velvet upholstery with the use of chairs and stools inspired by the American Navy Chair model.

We provide a bright touch with the use of chrome glass spheres for suspended lighting.

 

As a characteristic element, circular mirrors on the ceiling of the room, their different orientations allow us to see the place and the diners from different angles, creating a fun visual game.
